Cross-training activities: Fell running, time-trialing
Supplements/sports drinks: High 5, Mars bars, bananas
Race preparation activities: Ride course day before. Usually mending bike up to the last minute!
Heart rate monitor/power meter used for training: An old York one of some sort. Don't use it much, though.
Riding strengths: Stamina (enduros on a very hot day), short, sharp climbs. Useless in the rain, though.
Most enjoyable aspect of
mountain biking:
The other riders. Made some good friends and even met my other half at a race.
Greatest bike moment: SXC Laggan 2006 -- only 3 months after snapping a tendon in my knee. Lapped by the entire field, but it was great to just get on the bike again. I had wondered if it would ever be possible. Also, Margam 6-4-2 start, 2005, long story.
